Over the past 17 years, UPenn & MIT alumnus Leonard Sax MD PhD has visited more than 400 schools across North America, including more than sixty schools in the province of Ontario alone. He has written four books for parents, including Girls on the Edge and the New York Times bestseller The Collapse of Parenting, both of which were the subject of cover stories for Maclean’s magazine. In this presentation for parents, Dr. Sax will share what he has learned about the causes of this new epidemic for girls, with concrete answers to questions such as: How much should I know about what my daughter is doing online? What can I do to protect my daughter from becoming anxious and/or depressed?”

Description:

Psychologist and physician Dr. Leonard Sax argues that many girls today have a brittle sense of self – they may look confident and strong on the outside, but they’re fragile within. Dr. Sax offers the tools we need to help them become independent and confident women, and provides parents with practical tips on everything from helping their daughter limit her time on Facebook, to choosing a sport, to nurturing her spirit. Dr. Sax points the way to a new future for today’s girls and young women.
